Zojirushi Vacuum Bottles and Carafes (#)
„Tapered body with wider base provides extra stability; large handle for easy service; features a one touch button system to pour ; vacuum glass liner (note that this is not an all-stainless item) ensures excellent heat retention; available in brushed stainless finish. Please note: this is a thermal carafe, not a thermos (don't take it hiking) and it is glass-lined. You can brew directly into it using a thermos filtercone too, and the #2 size filterholder works too! Capacity: 1.0 liters/ 1.06 quarts Color: Brushed Stainless Heat Retention: 154°F @ 10 hrs.“

„I've found that the coarser the grind, the more times water should be poured through to optimize taste. When I've gotten extremely finely ground coffee, one time works very well (and in fact doing it more than once clogs the filter). With the drip grind coffee I'm currently using (Jim's Organic Coffee), I pour water in 2 times when I use 4-5 tablespoons of grounds - about 1½ - 2 ounces the first time, then 6 - 8 ounces. When I make coffee with 2 tablespoons or a little more grounds, I run water through 3 times - 1 - 2 teaspoons first, then 1 - 1½ ounces then 2 - 2½ ounces.“

„Or a durable mug with some other kind of liner that doesn't impart the off taste of stainless or plastic but is still easy to clean? Thermos makes a beverage bottle with a glass liner, but they don't put the Nissan name on it and they sell it for eight bucks, so I'm suspicious about the durability and quality. Zojirushi bills their stainless mugs as having an "easy to clean" interior but I can't find any information about what that interior is made from. Perhaps someone out there who owns a Zojirushi can give me more info.“

„I just read Mark Prince's review of the pint Zojirushi, and he said that the pint model's pour-through stopper closes automatically when you put the lid on. I've had mine for a long time, and I've never tried this. I just did, and mine closes automatically, too!“

„If you are shipping anything, or using these for darker roasts, I strongly suggest the valve bags. Paper ones will, despite the liner, stain with coffee oils. These bags do WONDERS to preserve coffee aromatics! Essentially, they are better coffee storgage than airtight glass since the CO2 from fresh coffee flushes the oxygen out the one way de-gassing valve (which is made by the German firm Bosch), and when you open the bag you can squeeze it while resealing and help force the oxygen out.“

„Bottom Line: Hot, tasty, strong coffee that stays hot in a stainless steel thermal carafe without breaking the bank!“
