„I would have to ask why you are using Italian espresso when you have some perfectly good, large and reputable roasters such as Render opperating in China? It seems odd that anyone with access to fresh espresso blends would chose an Italian blend in bag which (like Lavazza) uses a good part robusta in the blend? Try fresh...you will never go back!“

„Italian roasters Illy entered the China market two years ago after several years of research and introduced their coffee to coffee shops and retail outlets. Unlike most of their competitors, Illy produces just one blend, mostly Brazilian arabica, and according to its Hong Kong-based Asia Pacific representative Stefano Tamaro, it was pleasantly surprised to discover that despite misgivings that their darker roast would not be accepted by the Asian palate. "Young consumers share a taste for a darker roast," said Tamaro, "sales are growing slowly in Asia, even in Japan." He notes that in general, Asian consumers tend to avoid stronger tasting blends, "While middle aged men may prefer black espresso, the younger consumers tend to avoid strong tastes.“

„Thought I was getting an Italian made machine, but the box says it's made in China. Because of human rights issues and concerns about longevity based on reviews of other percolators that were manufactured there, that was an unpleasant surprise. But it comes with a one year warranty, so hopefully... After doing some research it appears that with the exception of Dualit, ALL percolators are made in China.“

„Italy's coffee fame rests on its coffee companies abilities as roasters and blenders for espresso. There is no doubt that the average Italian regards coffee as one of life's essentials, but at the same time there are few Italian coffee connoisseurs. As long as the coffee is of a certain standard it will be acceptable (and cheap!) The end result is that most of the green coffee going in to Italy is "good average" at best rather than specialty grade, and most of the roasted coffee exported is designed to give a consistent "good average" espresso.“

„They are especially focussed on younger consumers in the big cities or in cities with a university. It started in the early 1990s with the Italian roasters Lavazza and Segafredo, both of which operate today some 100 espresso bars. Coffee shops and other espresso bars followed, many of them were operated by small private roasters. Today there are some 215 of these outlets all over Germany.“
