„Because I like them so much, I had to resort to the nonfat no-whip versions to keep from turning into Jabba the mocha drinker. When I bought my Starbucks Barista machine (great machine by the way), I started with Hershey's regular and dark syrup but just wasn't happy with the taste of the choclate. I have since been using Smucker's choclate topping, which comes in a glass jar and has to be spooned out, and that's been OK. I would think that Ghiradelli's syrup would be superior to everything based on the quality of their other chocolates.“

„I called Starbucks customer support, and they were nice, but made it clear that with a machine that old what they could offer in support was limited. Turns out I'm going to have to shell out another $35 for parts to just test the machine (other than running water through the brew head or steam wand.)“

„Bottom Line: Though my friends are coffee drinkers, I'll NEVER give up my Barista and afternoon lattes.“

„"The Starbucks Barista Digital Italia combines the highest quality coffee brewing components with programmable convenience, and the result is the best home espresso machine that I have ever used," says Mark Sacks, Starbucks product manager for Brewing equipment. "With its improved home barista interface, this espresso machine is easier to operate than many car stereos."“

„However, Starbucks persisted. They captured my attention and pulled a few sample shots from the Barista espresso machine. The Barista was a far better machine than I had expected. The sample shots had a full crema and tasted great.“

„While larger companies like Starbucks may be on the way to replacing the skills of the barista with automatic machines, other independent, smaller cafes and chains have fueled a worldwide movement to dignify and professionalize the job of barista by instituting barista competitions, informal barista "jams," and by the recent establishment of the Barista Guild, now under the auspices of the Specialty Coffee Association of America. These barista competitions not only encourage skill in producing espresso and espresso drinks and an elegance and economy of gesture, but also - and more to the point here - an appreciation of fine and distinctive espresso blends. Those interested in the contemporary barista movement will find information on the Barista Guild at www.scaa.org/related_organizations.asp “
