TransFair Canada: The Impact of Fair Trade in Guatémala (#)
„In May 2003, at the second edition of the National Fair Trade Weeks in Canada, TransFair Canada and its partners had the pleasure of welcoming Rafael Terraza Raimundo, a coffee grower and member of the ASOBAGRI cooperative in Guatemala. ASOBAGRI is one of the rare cooperatives that sell 100% of its coffee on the fair trade market. In addition to being certified by FLO (Fairtrade Labelling Organizations), the coffee from ASOBAGRI members is also certified organic. At various conferences and public meetings, Rafael delivered a stirring testimony about the impact that fair trade has had on the members of ASOBAGRI, their families and the entire community.“

„Remember that, as a consumer, you play a crucial role. The laws of supply and demand also apply to fair trade. It has been proven over and over again that sustained consumer pressure for new fair trade products is a determining factor in getting them on the shelves.“
