Tips on Coffee - How to store coffee? (#)
„Air is coffee's principle enemy. Glass is best because it doesn't retain the odors of the beans or the oils, which could contaminate future beans stored in the same container. However, if you use glass, make sure the container is not exposed to light, as sunlight is believed to reduce freshness. For consumption within1 week room temperature is fine2 weeks to a month refrigerate freeze themThis prevents the chemical reactions that produce stale beans and lifeless coffee.“

„Does anyone know if you can grind the coffee beans with a vitamix Blender. Don't have a grinder but do have a vitamix. Thought I would try ordering some whole beans if this vitamix would do the job.“

„a marketing opportunity. The bean is so small that it precludes selling to commercial roasters. That's true and fine, but it doesn't preclude selling the beans to home roasters, or to fluid air roasters such as those using the Sivitz system, or the Syd and Jerry roaster.“

„A coffee bean acts like its own container, holding in flavorful oils and aromatic compounds. Once the beans are ground, the flavor is exposed for brewing -but if brewing doesn't happen right away the flavor and aroma dissipate. Grinding the coffee yourself is not only the best way to enjoy the freshest coffee, it's also the first step in experiencing the aroma of the coffee even before you brew it.“

„When I look at a brewing chart that states, for example, to use 14 tablespoons of coffee for 42 ounces of water, does it refer to ground coffee or whole beans? If I scoop out a tablespoon of beans, will it still equate to a tablespoon after it is ground? I would think it would be less than a tablespoon because the air space between the beans is no longer present. I know that if I went by weight, my dilemma would be solved, but I am not that geeked out (yet!)“

„Low body and light acidity. The beans are dry. This roast is too light and does not allow the coffee to develop to its full potential.“
