As always, I'll be roaming the halls and conference rooms of the year 2000 SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) Conference in San Francisco this April 14-17th. The SCAA is the hub of the coffee world, with more focus on the top 5% of the world coffee production that truly qualifies as specialty. It is fitting to hold it in San Francisco because, despite claims to the contrary, the Bay Area is the true center of specialty coffee in the US.“

Easy to understand as she had been trading in coffees with special qualities, special personalities and special attributes for a long time. She was one of the pioneers and pathfinders for a different way of enjoying coffee in the "new world".“

„The Specialty Coffee Association of America annual conference was in Boston this year, and in my mind it was the best one since San Francisco. This year was marked by the presence of the new e-member level, basically advanced consumers who could gain access to parts of the show at a lower price. Unfortunately, someone decided the theme this year was "a shot heard around the world," referring to espresso, not to the war in Iraq.“
