The coffee shop dilemma

[leyton.org] So it’s probably a fabrication of my own admittedly rather paranoid mind that there might even be some limit. But do recall that the Coffee republic chairman commented that they were getting rid of comfy sofas to “get rid of the slackers” or something sinister. So when does a stay become a deliberate “slack”? By his reckoning it’s ten minutes, but he’s hardly in a position to make authoritative comments, as Coffee Republic are struggling the most of all the big chains.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[LIBERTAS] Star Wars Episode III: Review + Extended Commentary: Revenge of the Sith lives or dies - and I believe lives - according to one central relationship in the story. Much as Return of the Jedi hinged on the fraught relationship between Luke Skywalker and his father, Sith revolves around the complex relationship between Anakin Skywalker and his mentor-cum-Mephistophelean tempter, Chancellor Palpatine. The best moments in the film - and by far the best moments in the entire prequel trilogy - come in the quiet, private moments between these two characters, as Palpatine weaves a complex web to ensnare his young charge. Critics have been right to praise Ian McDiarmid for his performance - Lucas and Hayden Christensen should also be praised for what they bring to this aspect of the drama.

[Liz's Looming Lunacy] Dno't Read (too boring 2): The antho isn't actually titled Blood Beach, I just thought it sounded cool for this entry. Haven't worked on my story for it yet today, but there are a few things other than email that I have to try and clear up first so I'll work on it tonight. Namely, I need to go to the store and get buttermilk because I have the crazy idea of baking my own Irish Soda Bread: I fonud a few recipes online, the links to which I've posted at http://linksaplenty.blogspot.com so that I could find them again with no problems. I also put a few up to recipes for things like creamed chipped beef and corned beef and cabbage.

[Clanbrandon.co.uk] Diary - Blog - Czech Republic - Ceske Budejovice: Anyway, tonight’s topic for the conversation class was poetry, and Varya and the other teacher had chosen some choice morsels for the students to disect. Some very interesting things came out of the discussions though: apparently, under Communism, poetry was downplayed a lot. The only poetry taught at school was stuff in Russian, or things praising “The Party” and anything communist.

[Kyrgyzmichael.blogspot.com] Michael Jacobs in Kyrgyz Republic: I made my cooperating teacher cry, the lady who stole my salary from last month. Motivated-agitated by three cups of Nescafe coffee, a definite vice, I stormed into my director's office to get to the bottom of why my cooperating teacher had not given my Kyrgyz family their money. I also yelled at her about other violations of my contract and how I am never informed about anything that's going on at the school. In Kyrgyzstan, productive interpersonal communication occurs somewhere near 50 decibels louder than normal speech.
