The SCAE Awards for Coffee Excellence

The SCAE Awards for Coffee Excellence ()

„Danny O'Neill: while most US Specialty roasters concentrate on marketing, Danny kept pressing for the best beans, leading by his example and always displaying the most unhindered enthusiasm when talking about his vision of the perfect cup of coffee. He is probably seen by some in the coffee industry as a madman for his practice of selecting the coffee he will purchase before knowing the price, but his undisputable success with this strategy speaks loader than any grand speech. During his period as SCAA President he was able to contaminate many with the said enthusiasm, attracting attention to coffee quality which was somewhere in the background as a priority to many in the American market. “

„Obviously its better if you buy from your local specialty roaster- they can sell small volumes direct to you in whole bean (or if you request) ground form. Its always better to buy the whole beans and invest in a grinder so you can grind beans as you need them. Ground coffee can deteriorate at a pretty quick clip...“
