„In 1723, a young naval officer, Gabriel de Clieu obtained a seedling from the King's plant. Despite an arduous voyage -- complete with horrendous weather, a saboteur who tried to destroy the seedling and a pirate attack -- he managed to transport it safely to Martinique. Once planted, the seedling thrived and is credited with the spread of over 18 million coffee trees on the island of Martinique in the next 50 years. It was also the stock from which coffee trees throughout the Caribbean, South and Central America originated. “

„Us Canadians seem well represented here. I don't know for sure, but if you're look for a Melitta Choco Latte, there is a neat little restaurant supply place on King Street East (near Sherbourne if memory serves). I've been by there before and they've had some very ecclectic blends (no pun intended) of coffee equipment. The name of the place escapes me but it is on the south side just down from that row of hip home decor places approaching George Brown College.“

The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) will also donate resource books, videos and posters from its capacious library.
