„Had a slightly sweet, nut-like aroma to the whole beans very similar to hazelnut liqueurs. Aroma in cup is very much like a creamy, hazelnut liqueur. Coffee and hazelnut flavors blend together nicely. Tastes as if I added hazelnut liqueur to my cup of coffee without the kick from the alcohol.“

„I made no attempt at a proper cupping but instead prepared coffee in my french press or cafetiere as usual and took notes on fragrance, aroma, and flavors of the brew (cup profile) as it cooled during normal consumption. There were 2 different coffees and one was roasted to 2 different levels, city and full city. Two brews, one from the jar and one from the exposed coffee were made daily for 3 days for each roast.“

„Grown in soil which is rejuvenated on an annual basis by the rainy season and the cyclic nature of the runoff silt, Yemen coffee is at the same time complicated in terms of body, fragrance and aroma but simple in terms of pre-harvest care. In preparation, I found the coffee to be too over the top for the French Press or Bodum cafe, hence the Melitta Drip Carafe was used to its fullest potential. For the record, the Melior Press that I used brought out a tad too much spiciness and sweet flora for my compromised taste buds to untangle. With an unbleached paper filter at work I found that it pulled away enough of the wild fatty lipids and oils to give me something to work with.“
