„The National Coffee Association (NCA) resolved: To organize a summit of industry leaders in early 2002 that will develop recommendations for ensuring the availability of an ample supply and quality of coffee; To continue to work with a coalition of food and beverage industry associations on House and Senate bills that concern the nation’s food safety and the threat of bioterrorism; To recommend that the U.S. Government rejoin the International Coffee Organization; To conduct a global technology survey for the coffee industry to help identify E-commerce solutions with an emphasis on savings in “back office” costs.“

„But the NCA says the draft bill would have no impact on global supply and demand, and would do nothing to resolve the global coffee crisis, reduce the current world oversupply of coffee, or support the sustainable coffee production the international coffee industry requires. Instead, they say, it would put the American coffee industry at a competitive disadvantage to the rest of the world, it would do nothing for the current supply/demand imbalance in coffee around the world, it would put barriers up for international trade (making things worse for the producing nations), and lower U.S. coffee consumption because of higher coffee prices.“

„New York - Since the National Coffee Association (NCA) of the United States’ headquarters is located less than two blocks from the World Trade Center, its staff witnessed the destruction of the Twin Towers and the mass murder of more than 6,500 people who worked in those buildings on September 11th. Within minutes of the attacks, all NCA staff was able to evacuate without injury, making their way by foot to safety in Greenwich Village, Manhattan.“

Of 107 million daily coffee drinkers, the National Coffee Association found there were 2 million daily drinkers of iced/cold coffee beverages, an additional 6 million weekly drinkers, plus another 41 million occasional drinkers Sales of shelf-stable - not refrigerated or frozen - iced coffee products from the top 10 brands in supermarkets, drug stores and mass merchandisers were up 6% at $103.5 million over the last year, according to Information Resources, Inc.“
