„This is a totally remarkable cup, with all the top-end bright notes and floral-fruit flavors endemic to a really good DP Sidamo It does taste less earthy and wild than a really good non-decaf Sidamo but in all other respects, the true Sidamo DP character is preserved: it has medium-light bodied, incredible aromatics of fruit, wild-honeyed roast tastes, with a long finish. If I cupped this blind I would never ever suspect it was decaffeinated. Wet Aroma (1-5) 3.8 Brightness - Acidity (1-10) 8.3 Flavor - Depth (1-10) 8.6 Body - Movement (1-5) 3.3 Finish - Aftertaste (1-10) 8.3 Cupper's Correction (1-5) 0 Intensity/Prime Attribute: Medium intensity/ Fruited Sidamo-esque cup with medium body add 50 50 Roast: City+ to Full City + roast is best: I like a more developed roast taste which aids some bittersweetness to the cup and compliments the fruit notes. I actually (accidentally) did a super, super light roast on this and it turned out very nice too - but a bit too "bright" in overall tone.“

„The roaster does take a bit longer to roast Decaf coffees and you will need to set it 12 degrees Celsius higher than an equivalent non-Decaf roast. The reason is that the lower density of Decaf coffees does not absorb heat as efficiently in a rapid air stream as non-Decaf coffees. While testing, we simply vented using laundry dryer hoses into the bed of the 12 Kilo Diedrich roaster (set with the cooling fan on and drawing air down through the cooling tray). The roaster requires ventilation to the outside!“

„ I think Krups should make the tamper shorter. Since I only make espresso shots and do not make "Starbucks" type frothy drinks, I can't comment on the milk frother, but, it does not seem to hold much steam when I empty it. I use only Quarta coffee from Lecce, Italy (pre-ground/Turkish style).“

„You won't get any "crema" (the elusive "head" on an espresso, like on a Guinness), and the flavoris different in part because a French press doesn't extract using pressure, so itdoesn't dissolve various coffee compounds. (Here, it seems like you're ingestingthem in solid form, instead!) Many varieties of coffee bean taste good in aFrench press; it's particularly good at making a seriously earthy cup of CentralAmerican coffee. One does far better with a French press than a cheap espressomaker, until one is able to splurge for a Pavoni or a serious pump machine.“
