„The other factor is that other decafs sometimes don't originate with the best green coffees. This is a true Auction Lot Kenya blended 50-50 with one of the best Ethiopian Yirgacheffe lots from this season. As I mentioned, it is a coffee that is lighter in body, bright (striking the front of the palate and tongue in the center-front and front-sides), and very fruity. Although the scores are already very high for a decaf, I objectively felt the cup rates higher than a combined 86 so there is a "Cupper's Correction" of 2.“

„For drip coffee I would suggest experimenting with Guatemalan, Costa Rican, Tanzania peaberry, Ethiopian (the Ethiopians are ALL good: Harar, Sidamo, and Yirgacheffe). Also you may like to try Sulawesi, Kenya and maybe even an exotic like Kona or Jamaican Blue Mountain (it's terribly expensive but also a unique coffee).“

Like Guatemala Antiguas, which vary from lightly bright, sweet and fruity when grown on the valley floor to austerely acidy when produced on the valley slopes, this months Konas range from wonderfully and complexly fruity, soft and sweet (Nani Kona, Greenwell Farms) to powerfully acidy and authoritative (Brocksen Gate, Kona Mountain). No one should have any problem importing a little retrospective paradise from one of these farms, custom-roasted.“

„Are you looking for a conditioned response for a brand (like Kona or JMB) or the best tasting coffee - even by your own taste preferences? Lately, I really enjoy Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. It has some naturally occcuring citrus flavors that are just amazing. I've gotten a bag of Kenyan AA rated 94 in coffee review that also has been extraordinary, but for a very different flavor profile.“
