„Canton, MA. --- The country’s leading fair trade coffee company praised Starbucks for its recent announcement of intent to purchase a small portion of its coffee under certified fair trade terms. Massachusetts-based Equal Exchange pioneered the fair trade coffee movement in the United States in 1986 and to date remains the largest and only company to purchase 100% of its coffee from small farmer cooperatives under internationally recognized fair trade criteria.“

„21, 2000) — In an unusual turn of events, a small, Boston area company, Equal Exchange, congratulates a number of much larger companies for having announced that they are entering the field of fairly traded coffees – the niche market that Equal Exchange has had mostly to themselves since they created the category in 1991. In keeping with the company’s unconventional approach to business, Equal Exchange is glad to have direct competition for the first time, even specialty coffee powerhouses like Starbucks and Green Mountain.“

Espresso! My Espresso! An Ongoing Internet Novel - CHAPTER Espresso! My Espresso! An Ongoing Internet Novel - CHAPTER

„11/26/00 - There's an old saying that you don't know what you got till it's gone, and that's the way this morning's espressos went. I had run out of Monkey and Donkey about three days ago and we have been "surviving" on some Alpenroast sample "natural" beans that I got from the Whole Latte Love folks with my order. These beans were quite nice, predominantly Arabica, and made some very nice espresso. I would have to say that it lacked some of the depth and complexity of the Monkey beans, but was very drinkable, indeed.“

CoffeeGeek - Saeco Classico - Dave LaFollette's Review CoffeeGeek - Saeco Classico - Dave LaFollette's Review

„It comes with a pressurized portafilter, but for an extra $35.00 you can get a non-pressurized portafilter from Saeco and your machine becomes a poor man's Sylvia. One thing that you will find is that the Classico is exceptionally quick to heat up. This minimizes the fact that you can't leave this machine on a timer due to the lack of a boiler auto refill. Temperature surfing is not needed due to the rapid heat up.“
