„Whereas a small farmer in Peru has no access to credit (and thus may be forced into debt to local moneylenders), COCLA's members have access to credit at 12-13%. Farmers use this money to increase plantings of shade trees and coffee trees, invest in tarps and equipment that improve quality, and pay for transporting their coffee to the coop's warehouse. Ninety eight percent of all loans are paid on time, testifying to their efficacy and their member's gratitude.“

„The exporters are then allowed 10 days to evaluate the quality of each small lot.In an open cry forum, the coffee is sold to the highest bidder. Kobricks, our supplier, buys its Kenyans through an exporter who participates in this bidding process- a process that ensures the highest quality coffee commands the highest market price, thus rewarding farmers for a job well done. Kenyan coffee is wet-processed and sold by the size of the bean, with AA signifying the largest (and most desirable), followed by A and B.“
