I was reluctant to post any mention of Peet's because I anticipate a barage of criticism of the way they over-roast their coffee. So with that I admit that I have drunk little else but Peet's Antigua Guatemala, drip brewed for God's sake, for over a dozen years--even taking 10 pounds at a time with me when I was living in an actual coffee producing country. „Posted January 6, 2005 link That seems to be a recurring theme: Get 'em immediately upon roasting - either self- or local- roasted (or quick-shipped like Peet's) - and use 'em in a week or, at most, two.  I originally was motivated to save money on shipping and was buying two pounds at a time from Peet's, freezing one, but I'm coming around to the thinkng that I'm probably lessening my enjoyment to save a few dollars.  Clearly, with multi-thousand dollar home espresso machines and grinders that run $500, this is not a endeavor that lends itself to pinching pennies.“
