„From 1998 to 2001 the ICO undertook generic promotion campaigns in China and Russia. The objective was to develop, through education, promotion and media coverage, a coffee culture that would enhance the image of coffee drinking. Imports of coffee have doubled in China, and increased by more than 75% in Russia in this period. ICO promotion activities such as media briefings, Coffee Festivals and the dissemination of educational materials such as the Story of Coffee have contributed to the remarkable growth in these markets, increasing public awareness of coffee, and achieving favourable media coverage.“

„Athens, Greece - Russian coffee prices are not expected to rise due to panic over cold weather in Brazil, according to the publication New Europe. International Coffee Organization (ICO) managing director Celsius Lodder says that export prices for coffee had gone down considerably over the last couple of years. Even if they do go up this year, they will not affect retail prices or demand for coffee very much, he added.“
