All the growers need to complete borer tracing and destruction by September end especially by making use of the incentive provided by the Coffee Board. Application of pesticide during October second half/ early November in fields with higher levels of incidence would become necessary to provide protection to the healthy plants. An intensive programme to establish shade, especially at middle level, also our enemy, the white stem borer or loose our heart when borer is taking an upper hand under favourable conditions.“

  „The debt burden on the coffee industry currently amounts to over Rs 1,300 crore, including an interest component of Rs 300 crore. "There is a need for the Government to repay the interest burden to the Banks, thereby providing relief to the growers," said Mr Anil Bhandari, Chairman, United Planters Association of Southern India said, adding that such relief was not new. It already existed for other agricultural commodities besides a few select industries, including the public sector, he said.“
