„"Other" channels which include both franchised and independent coffee houses saw their share of retail hot drinks volume increase by 4.2 percentage points between 1997 and 2001, to 29.2%. The practise of coffee houses such as Starbucks or Peet's selling their fresh bean or ground coffee for take-home consumption has come into great prominence in recent years. In buying fresh coffee in such channels, a growing number of US consumers are looking to replicate the coffee house experience at home. Discounters, including such channels as Wal-Mart increased their hot drinks volume share between 1997 and 2001, albeit by a much smaller amount.“
