„Starbucks has tapped into a need, and it has fulfilled that need. For me that walk to the neighbourhood coffee shop was a welcome interlude: the reasons being the walk down on a balmy summer morning, the exchanged pleasantries with the friendly staff (I believe that after I left, they seemed concerned about my welfare in the light of the then tense Indo-Pakistan situation), the consumption of the coffee itself in the Styrofoam cups with the thick brown paper bands to facilitate their holding in the hand - and of course the bonding with my daughter. And I expect that these more or less cover the reasons for the patronage of most of the other habitués of the coffee-shop.“
