„The concept of coffee as a commodity product is anathema to illy. Due to the difficulty finding high quality green coffee, in 1990 illycaffè went to the source—making an agreement with top Brazilian growers and establishing an annual prize for the producer of the highest quality coffee. The winner receives a cash prize of $30,000 U.S. and a 30% premium price over market for the winning coffee lot. Second prize is $20,000 U.S., and so on, with even the 10th place finisher receiving $1000.“
