How an Elctric Rice Cooker Works

How an Elctric Rice Cooker Works ()

„When rice and water is placed into the inner cooking pan and then put into the main body of the rice cooker, the weight of the inner cooking pan depresses the thermal sensor. With the rice cooker plugged in and the cooking switch turned on, the heating plate begins to heat up bringing the liquid in the cooking pan to a boil. Water boils at 212 degrees F and no higher, so as long as there is water in the pan the rice cooker will continue to cook.“

„However, every type of rice requires different amounts of water. All Zojirushi rice cookers have water measure lines for cooking short grain white rice. To cook brown rice it is recommended to use 1.5 to 2 times the amount of water to rice, unless your rice cooker includes a brown rice function. (NOTE: Please always use the rice cooker’s plastic measuring cup for measuring both the raw rice and the water.) For those models without a brown rice function, if you use 2 cups (measured in the rice cooker’s measuring cup) of raw brown rice, fill the pan with 3 to 4 cups (use the rice cooker’s measuring cup) of water.“

„Situate cookie sheets in relation to bean-charged pans so as to break up pattern of hot spots revealed by previous roast sessions. In other words, if beans in middle of roasting pan emerge darker than beans at sides, position cookie sheet directly below roasting pan. If darker beans are at back of pan, position cookie sheet somewhat farther back in oven than roasting pan, etc. If beans take longer than 15 minutes to reach a medium roast or 20 minutes to reach a moderately dark (espresso) roast, or if they taste bland or flat, start with higher temperature on subsequent sessions.“
