Home Roasting Indoors with the Hearthware (INeedCoffee.com) (#)
„To anyone that owns a Precision Hearthware Coffee Roaster , the thought of writing a tutorial on using it will seem ridiculous. Using the Hearthware is so simple a caveman could figure out the basics. This is a tutorial written for those coffee fans that haven't started home roasting yet or those already roasting that know little about the Hearthware. In an earlier INeedCoffee tutorial, we showed you how to roast coffee using a popcorn popper .“

„And most of the book is that way. The book addresses a coffee shop with a roaster on site. A lot of the marketing discussion centers around the roaster and custom roast coffee. Great if you're planning to have that.“

„Roasting with a heat gun is another variation of the fluid bed method used in most home roasting appliances. I'm told a Sivetz sample roaster actually uses a heat gun to blow air up through beans held in a metal tube. The method I'm going to talk about is throw some beans into a bowl and blast them with a heat gun. It sounds like something you would see on Tool Time but it really works.“

„A skilled coffee roaster knows exactly what a given roast profile will do to the taste of coffee. Try to connect with some local "artisan" roasting companies. The purpose is to receive (free) training on their roasting machines in exchange for help with packaging the coffee, cleaning and/or repair work.“
