History of Drip Coffee - Melitta USA (#)
„In 1997, Melitta achieved yet another milestone, developing filter paper with Flavor Pores. This new paper, with microfine pores, allows more coffee taste and aroma to come through while continuing to filter out unwanted grounds and sediment. So almost ninety years after Melitta Bentz revolutionized coffee making for the first time, the company that bears her name has taken the next step in achieving her pursuit of the perfect cup of coffee. Melitta coffee filters with Favor Pores, being introduced into North America in 1999, bring coffee lovers a noticeable improvement in their coffee enjoyment experience.“

„Espresso differs greatly from the common drip brewed coffee drink in its thick concentrated consistency, and robust flavor. Due to its potency, straight espresso (espresso served without sweetener or milk, analogous to black coffee) is considered by some to be an acquired taste, and is served in small amounts called shots. Many coffee aficionados order their single or double with a little glass of cold water to clear the palate. Because the espresso reacts quickly with oxygen, it should be consumed right after brewing.“

„Bunn coffee makers brew TOO FAST! (1.) A three minute brew time might be great for advertising purposes however drip coffee should brew between four & five minutes; the flavor is superior. (2.) Finely ground coffee will overflow the brew funnel if you make a ten cup pot full.“

„If you use a manual drip maker, be sure to use water at the right temperature. Water temperature for brewing should be between 195° and 205°F to assure optimum flavor extraction. Bring water to its first rolling boil and then let the kettle rest for about 30 seconds.“
