„Supply has been growing at 6.5% per year for the same period. The biggest reason for this is Vietnam making a concerted effort into being a major player in coffee production. They are now the second largest coffee producer in the world. Brazilian supply has also increased plantation in largely frost free areas such that supply is projected to increase even further.“

„ Though coffee farms are found throughout the Hawaiian islands, it is Kona coffee, from the large island of Hawaii, that is best known and always in high demand. Nature provides just the right environment for the coffee trees growing on the slopes of the active Mauna Loa volcano. Young trees are planted in black, volcanic soil so new that it often seems the farmers are planting their seedlings in rock instead of soil. Afternoon shade from tropical clouds forms a natural canopy over the trees to protect them from intense sun. Frequent island showers keep the plants nourished with just the right amount of rain.“

„The committee requested approval to approach Loomis to come up with a strategy to create a consumer demand for Hawaiian Coffee and to come up with a marketing approach to the coffee industry to provide information to the consumer. A decision on a cooperative ad in the SCAA directory needs to be made soon. Any interested members who want to participate in this ad should contact Paula Sussex.“

„Kona, on the southwest coast of Hawaii, thelargest island of the Hawaiian chain, produces the most famous and the most traditional ofHawaiian coffees. Coffee has been grown in smaller quantities elsewhere on the islandssince the early days of European settlement, but encouraged by the impending closure ofsugar and pineapple plantations and the tourism-induced popularity of Hawaiian coffee, large commercial concerns now have established plantations on the islands of Kauai andMolokai. Similar efforts soon may follow on other islands.“
