„Andrew Hetzel discussed the planning process for the Barista Jam, planning for 140-160 attending. Sheri Johns with Barista Competitions will help with the format, equipment and supplies, resources, concept and skill required. More information will be coming out in next few months as plans continue. Andrew will be in Hawaii for two weeks in January and a meeting will be scheduled for Barista Jam planning.“

„I've been invited to attend by the organizers, Sherri and Danny Johns (the folks who organize all the US based Barista competitions), so Jeanette and I are packing up and heading to Seattle for the weekend. I'll get to visit my fave cafe once again, Zoka's, and also hook up with some of the best folks in the coffee biz: the people at ESI - they are hosting the event in their office and showroom. I'm really looking forward to it.“

The SCAE Awards for Coffee Excellence
„He sponsored and hosted the first SCAA sanctioned Barista Jam in Seattle in February, 2003, and plans to host another in the coming months. As any of us who are active in the promotion of specialty coffee excellence knows, financial gain is not a factor in our participation. But Jeff, who continues to stretch his own budget in order to sponsor such vents as the Barista Jam, the first ever Barista Guild party, held at Coffee Fest Seattle in October, 2003, as well as making funds available to send his baristas to origin and encourage them to volunteer with such groups as a local organization that teaches barista skills to underprivileged youths, has a passion and commitment to barista excellence that is beyond comparison in the United States.“

CoffeeKid - February Coffee Stuff
„Submissions have come in from places like Sweden and Japan this year, and a surprising entry from my home town of Vancouver, BC. My intent was to travel down to Seattle for the Barista Jam (article on CoffeeGeek about the Jam) and get many of the pro Baristi to check out the wares as I record their comments and thoughts, then organize another test with a bunch of consumers later on. I'm hoping the article will come out by the end of March.“
