„3 booths that are committed still need to be paid for. Brewing equipment will be provided but need to provide own airpots. Offer of coffee bank for HCVB has been withdrawn since the HCA would not receive any benefit from providing a coffee bank. Dick Peterson is looking at finding other sources of funding to cover expenses we were originally expecting to be covered with help from the HCVB.“

„Dick needs to know in the next week or two. Advantages to taking one of the booths in the 16 booth HCA consortium is the prime location of the booths, matching funds, use of coffee brewing station, flower leis provided daily. Motion is made to allocate matching funds only to HCA members who participate within the HCA 16 booth commitment at the 2003 SCAA Convention. Those who choose to participate in a booth outside the 16 booth commitment will not qualify for matching funds.“

„“This is a very important development for our industry,” said Hawaii Coffee Association (HCA) President Frank Kiger. “The labeling requirements in the revised law will allow consumers to clearly distinguish a 100-percent Hawaiian coffee and foreign coffee,” he explained. “Most of the coffee roasted and sold in Hawaii that carries Hawaii identifiers are blends. [The new laws] will distinguish a Premium Blend coffee - one that may contain 30 percent or 50 percent Hawaiian Coffee - from one containing only 10 percent.”“

„HCA's position is that no genetically modified cofee is commercially grown in Hawaii and it is the HCA's position that none should be commercially grown or field tested in Hawaii at this time. HCA requests that the USDA and HDOA inform and make the HCA party to any permit procedure for GMO coffee field research. Motion was seconded and unanimously approved.“

„Update on GMO coffee HCA position statement on GMO coffee: No GMO coffee is grown in Hawaii and it is the HCA's position that none should be commercially grown in Hawaii at this time. It is the HCA's position that no field tests of GMO coffee be done without the agreement of the HCA. A motion to accept the paragraph was seconded and approved.“
