„Andrew Hetzel discussed the planning process for the Barista Jam, planning for 140-160 attending. Sheri Johns with Barista Competitions will help with the format, equipment and supplies, resources, concept and skill required. More information will be coming out in next few months as plans continue. Andrew will be in Hawaii for two weeks in January and a meeting will be scheduled for Barista Jam planning.“

CoffeeKid - February Coffee Stuff
„Submissions have come in from places like Sweden and Japan this year, and a surprising entry from my home town of Vancouver, BC. My intent was to travel down to Seattle for the Barista Jam (article on CoffeeGeek about the Jam) and get many of the pro Baristi to check out the wares as I record their comments and thoughts, then organize another test with a bunch of consumers later on. I'm hoping the article will come out by the end of March.“

So the goal with Hawaiians is to quit thinking that all Hawaiian coffee is good, and to realize that only a handful of coffees deserve the high price in terms of cup quality (you can easily argue that all deserve a high price in terms of the care and labor expended in producing them). And frankly, you must pay quite a bit for the truly great small-farm Kona.“
