„Dick needs to know in the next week or two. Advantages to taking one of the booths in the 16 booth HCA consortium is the prime location of the booths, matching funds, use of coffee brewing station, flower leis provided daily. Motion is made to allocate matching funds only to HCA members who participate within the HCA 16 booth commitment at the 2003 SCAA Convention. Those who choose to participate in a booth outside the 16 booth commitment will not qualify for matching funds.“

„3 booths that are committed still need to be paid for. Brewing equipment will be provided but need to provide own airpots. Offer of coffee bank for HCVB has been withdrawn since the HCA would not receive any benefit from providing a coffee bank. Dick Peterson is looking at finding other sources of funding to cover expenses we were originally expecting to be covered with help from the HCVB.“

„Trade Mark Committee established. J. Langenstein, T.Bateman, and G.Brocksen volunteered. The objective of this committee is to develop a program that will allow the HCA the ability to use State of HI recognized coffee trademarks on roasted coffee products to generate income for the HCA.“

„Need to submit boundaries of coffee growing areas in Hawaii and individuals may also submit boundaries of their particular farm. Request for letter of understanding between HCA and SCAA was approved. 5 permanent members to the IRC was approved, (Canada, Europe, Japan, Hawaii, the fifth seat will be determined), plus 3 importers and 3 roasters. IRC forum at the SCAA conference on the Thursday before the conference starts.“

„Effort to sell Hawaiian coffee to the Dept of Defense. Dick Petersen shared a recap of the history of this effort. His idea is to sell all 3X as well as other grades of coffee. A meeting is scheduled on September 26 at Senator Inouye’s office to get State and Federal legislative support. Dick Petersen, Leta Schooler, and Jim Wayman will attend on behalf of HCA. Dick will write a white paper for the meeting and distribute to the board. Dick will be finding out more information over the next month. Tommy gave an estimate of about 90000 lbs of Kona 3X.“
