„"Every time we buy, we're voting," said Mary Dipboye, founder of Houston's Ten Thousand Villages store, a branch of the 58-year-old program started by the Mennonite church to help artists in developing nations by paying living wages for environmentally friendly handicrafts. However, these days few consumers vote for the cause by purchasing fair-trade crafts, coffee or fruits. But purchases of goods certified by international fair-trade organizations is increasing, promoters said.“
