[Bloggle: The Coffee Odyssey] George Howell is without question one of the most influential figures in the specialty coffee trade: founder of The Coffee Connection (swallowed by Starbucks in '94), co-founder of the Cup of Excellence auction system, and once again a purveyor of fine coffees through Terroir Coffees.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Andy Carvin's Waste of Bandwidth] Saturday in Budapest: The whitewashed overlook, with its upside-down ice cream cone-like turrets, look like they should date from medieval times, but they were actually built at the turn of the 20th century as part of Hungary's 1000-year celebration of the founding of the country. (At times I got a little confused when Eva would say, "This was built for the millennium celebration," because I first assumed she meant 2000 rather than the late 1890s.) The bastion was incredibly crowded, but we did find one opening in which we could squeeze ourselves. Indeed, the view was spectacular: from high above Buda, you could gaze down at the Danube and the many historic monuments of Pest, in particular the stunning parliament building. The building look like the US capital if it had been built in a soaring gothic cathedral.

[Bluebottlecoffee.blogspot.com] The Blue Bottle Clown College: Blog bomb (sorry!): And there we were, halfway through a rather confusing argument with a would-be barista who was trying in vain to chide the BBCC for throwing away leftover steamed milk (which (to use the Faulknerian parenthetical) was not only laughable but frustrating as we were trying to make drinks and simultaneously defend our chum bucket to some waste-hater (who is hereby named last weeks' Golden Chum Bucket Winner!) who James finally trumped by saying, "It's like peeling a latte.") when Chris Tacy steps in to correct our mispronunciation of this years USBC's name. Chris not only cleared things up, but also saved us from having to carry on with the asinine. (Really, what are we going to do with 2 gallons of left over steamed milk?

I am trying to live in the moment, not live in regret but live in the now, but remembering the past.
