„Specially modified mechanical tea harvesters perform a crown harvest, taking only the fresh leaf growth from the trees. While such harvesters can compromise the final quality of Camellia sinensis leaves, the heartier lemon myrtle leaf (it belongs to the eucalyptus family) is not damaged by mechanized harvesting, says ANFM’s Betts. Harvesting occurs from April through December, with the January to March break coming only because of monsoon season, when fields are generally too soggy for harvesting.“

TEAS come from a single plant, the Camellia Sinensis. If left to wither (fully-oxidize), the tea leaves turn black. If immediately steamed, they remain green.“

„A tea garden must, of course, contain camellias, even if the actual tea plant, Camellia sinensis, is a little tender for cultivation in British gardens and locations with a similar climate. Camellias are superb plants to grow in containers or in the open ground in sheltered, shady situations. Plant them near the house, as these perfect porcelain blooms need to be enjoyed as they brave early inclement weather.“

„The tea plant itself is Camellia sinensis, a native of Southeast Asia. The tea brewed from the dried leaves of this plant has been drunk in China probably for thousands of years and certainly since the 10th century BC, from which time written records of its use survive. After the introduction of tea in 1657, Britain became the only European country of tea drinkers rather than coffee drinkers.“

„The purpose of grading tea leaves is not only to create teas that have a uniform leaf density and appearance, but more importantly to separate larger from smaller particles of leaf since they will extract at different rates when brewed.“

„First of all, what is green tea? Just like black tea, it comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. Black tea is fermented and green tea is not (oolong tea is partly fermented). Green tea is very popular in China and Japan and is gaining favour in other nations too.“
