„Many supermarkets will be running special offers on their Fairtrade ranges during the Fortnight, and shoppers will see features about Fairtrade on the shelves and in their magazines. In Sainsbury's, Tesco, Waitrose, Iceland and Co-op stores, shoppers will be able to sample Fairtrade products and find out about Fairtrade. Health food and Oxfam shops will have special window displays for the Fortnight.“

„In a significant move for shoppers, all 1,450 Co-op stores now sell Fairtrade products. As part of parent company CWS's commitment to improving conditions for third world suppliers, they are ensuring that every Co-op store, from local Welcome shops to large Superstores, stocks Fairtrade coffee and tea. Whether one or fourteen feet of space are devoted to such products in-store, shoppers should now find a Fairtrade alternative on the shelves. Although most other supermarkets also stock some Fairtrade products, no other retailer has committed itself to putting them in every store in this way.“

Sales of Fairtrade foods have more than doubled over the past three years and Fairtrade brands now account for 14 % of the total UK roast and ground coffee market. The British public are drinking 1.7 million cups of Fairtrade tea, coffee and cocoa each day and eating 1.5 million Fairtrade bananas a week.“
