„From the end of June, Starbucks will serve Fairtrade coffee as ‘coffee of the day’ once a month. Customers will always be able to order Fairtrade coffee in a cafetiere or buy it in a packet to take home. Ian Bretman, Deputy Director of the Fairtrade Foundation said, " Keep reminding all high street coffee shops that you want Fairtrade during your coffee breaks."“

„At Alternative Grounds, we began by roasting only fairly traded coffees. That was five years ago, and there was little attention paid to fairtrade and why it was important. It wasn't until 1998 that Fair TradeMark Canada, an independent fairtrade licensing and regulatory body, came into being.“

„This spring has seen the launch of many new Fairtrade products, including speciality Fairtrade teas and coffees, and the first Fairtrade sugar. Most significant is the first own-brand Fairtrade product from a UK supermarket – a new milk chocolate bar from the Co-op, which sells for 39p. It is made of high quality cocoa from Ghanaian co-operative Kuapa Kokoo, which also goes into Oxfam’s African Cocoa, which now carries the Fairtrade Mark and is sold in some Sainsbury’s stores.“

„In 2001, prices of coffee on the international markets collapsed to record-breaking lows, slashing the farmers’ and national country incomes. Between 1994 and the end of 2001 the price of robusta beans (used chiefly in instant coffee) plummeted from around 180 cents per lb to just 17 cents, a 30 year low. The value of the other coffee bean, the high quality arabica, suffered similarly.“
