„“Fairtrade is already growing rapidly in the out-of-home sector, but there’s a long way to go before consumers have the same choice of products with the FAIRTRADE Mark when eating out as they have for their weekly shop,” says Ian Bretman, Deputy Director of the Fairtrade Foundation. “Nearly half of what we spend on food and drink is consumed outside the home so we are asking workplaces, coffee houses, restaurants, etc. to stock Fairtrade certified products and to use the display materials to inform their customers that premises are using Fairtrade certified products.”“

„As a special focus of the 10th year of the FAIRTRADE Mark, the Fairtrade Foundation has aimed to persuade the out-of-home sector to switch to Fairtrade. The Office of Government Commerce issued guidelines on Monday 1 March on how government procurement offices can source Fairtrade foods.“

„Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International, the world-wide umbrella organization of Fair Trade, held its second annual forum in London on September 9th-12th, 2003. Three hundred people from over sixty countries met to exchange information, review policy issues, and in particular, discuss the strategic directions for Fair Trade. The Forum brought together representatives of Fair Trade producer and commercial organizations, licensees, national Fair Trade labeling organizations such as TransFair USA, and other organizations involved in Fair Trade.“
