„Bradford was already fortunate in having the One Caring World ethical trading centre which had been established in 1990 and included Bishopston Trading and a health food shop selling a number of Fairtrade products. The Cottage Co-operative, selling Fairtrade food and crafts and with a cafe using Fairtrade products, was later opened in the centre and in 2002 the idea was broached that Bradford should try for Fairtrade town status.“

„Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International, the world-wide umbrella organization of Fair Trade, held its second annual forum in London on September 9th-12th, 2003. Three hundred people from over sixty countries met to exchange information, review policy issues, and in particular, discuss the strategic directions for Fair Trade. The Forum brought together representatives of Fair Trade producer and commercial organizations, licensees, national Fair Trade labeling organizations such as TransFair USA, and other organizations involved in Fair Trade.“

„A campaign to boost consumer understanding of fair trade could shortly be coming to a town centre near you. The British Association for Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS), which has 52 member stores throughout the country, is running the project with RISC, the Reading International Solidarity Centre. The emphasis will be on the people behind the products, enabling producers to tell their own stories through leaflets, posters, teaching materials and a website. Project co-ordinator Aileen Garden said: "The prominent location of many Fair Trade shops means they have an invaluable opportunity to act as an educational ‘shop window’ for the whole fair trade movement." „Tell your friends and family to do the same Starbucks coffee shop Starbucks have extended the availability of Fairtrade Coffee to all their coffee shops (except 13 small kiosks) from July. It will be available as drip (filter) coffee as Coffee of the Day on the last Friday of every month. However they will make Fairtrade Coffee available as a 4 cup cafetier at all times as "Coffee to Share" - an entirely new service. They have also said that they will serve the Fairtrade cafetiere as a single cup if it is requested by Fairtrade coffee drinkers when the Fairtrade drip coffee is not available.“
