The shops of the Smithsonian’s Freer and Sackler Galleries will organize a buyers network of museum shops and stores in North America and possibly Europe that are interested in fair trade in high-quality craft products, to ensure that a larger share of the profits goes to the artisans. The Mehrangarh Museum Trust in Jodhpur will help organize a network among artisans, focusing on groups of poor artisans in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The trust will help the artisans network negotiate with the buyers network, fill orders, and resolve logistical problems in exporting, and hold workshops with the artisans to evaluate the process.“
