„The Fairtrade Foundation hopes to alert food service and catering companies to the increased number and range of Fairtrade certified products, and to the developments that now make it very easy for them to stock and promote products with the FAIRTRADE Mark. The organization is launching a new directory of over 100 companies that supply Fairtrade certified products to the food service industry, available at www.fairtrade.org.uk/suppliers_caterers.htm . Eating places are also being encouraged to display the fact that they are serving Fairtrade through new promotional point-of-sale materials - posters, table talkers, coffee mats and window stickers – produced by the Fairtrade Foundation and available through distributors and wholesalers.“

Fair Trade Certified standards go further: in addition to the minimum requirements that producers must meet, FLO standards guarantee a fair price, and, through process requirements, sees that the producer-run organizations invest part of the Fair Trade premiums in economic, environmental and social development. The producers and their organizations must therefore operate both transparently and democratically and are obliged to make quarterly reports to FLO. Certification of producers hinges on meeting all the FLO standards for which they are audited.“

Under the criteria for coffee, there can be no forced labor, and, because fair trade works with family farms, the children are not working under harmful conditions. Furthermore, the minimum price criteria provide families with a dignified standard of living, eliminating the need for children to work for wages.“

Not only is it a fair trade coffee, but it is also certified by IQnet, which is a worldwide certification organization that makes sure the beans are grown in certain guidelines and standards. I've had a little of it myself and it is quite enjoyable. Like so many other Central and South American coffees, this Brazilian has a nutty taste almost like fresh roasted peanuts.“
