Electric Coffee (#)
„This mill performs well throughout the grind range, with the only drawback being that in the fine espresso settings (ristretto grind) it takes 30 seconds to produce 15 grams for a double shot. That's not a big complaint, considering that the quality of the grind from the 50 mm machined burrs is very respectable! From extremely coarse to Turkish fine, and you have 360 degrees and 25 numbers and 50 stops on the setting dial to play with.“

„Treat her well and we will treat you well! And here's a little movie of a Ristretto being made on my Miss Silvia. (This is a bit overextracted, with the grind a tad too fine, as you can see by the long time it drips until finally it starts to pour with the characteristic and desireable "mouse tail" appearance). But hey, it was a really good 1 ounce Ristretto!“

„No question that a Rocky or Mazzer-Mini will improve upon the Maestro when it comes to producing a consistent grind for that ultimate "shot." For the money, I think the Solis a very good machine, certainly head-and-shoulders above any grinders in the under-$200-range that I'm aware of. I'll be using the Maestro exclusively for drip after I get the new "Mazz," hopefully soon. (NOTE: The Mazzer Mini has arrived, but that’s a story for another time)“

„For me, the ideal espresso is a double ristretto shot. This is literally a "ristricted" shot. You should also grind a bit finer than normal espresso so you still end up with a 30 second shot, but about 2/3rds to half the total brew volume that you get with normal espresso.“
