A case study in the Lancet journal said that after five months he went back to pure black tea and the symptoms disappeared within a week. The study found that high consumption of tea flavored with bergamot essence - as in Earl Grey - can cause muscle cramps, involuntary twitches, burning or prickling feelings and blurred vision.“
