„After living in Europe for a few years I became attached to Douwe Egberts, Aroma Rood (red package). Now that I'm back in the States and imported packages are $$$ ($5 USD for 250mg), I'm looking for a replacement. Can anyone that's had DE recommend something stateside that is comparable?“

„PS Keurig, Douwe Egberts, and other major coffee suppliers ARE marketing directly to the home buyer (maybe not the "true" coffee lover, but a large part of the market is not gourmet). They are making the single cup (pod, k-cup) a viable market. BTW, I have a Keurig brewer and it is very good.“

„Then the roasters sell to the likes of Nestlé, Sara Lee (which owns Douwe Egberts) and Lavazza. Many major retailers also deal directly with growers. Growers keep only a tiny share of the price consumers pay for the crop.“
