„I inherited a gadget from my old Cuban Aunt which houses ground coffee; it is an aluminum cylinder with a removable lid on the top and bottom of the cylinder. The coffee is poured into the top of the cylinder and by turning a knob on the bottom of the cylinder, coffee is measured out precisely according to the size of the filter upon which it is placed. In other words you can measure out coffee for a two cup espresso pot and then place the cannister over an eight cup espresso pot filter, turn the knob and voila a perfect measure of coffee is doled out. Question, the container appears to be manufactured by Benjamin and Medwin NYC and the bottom lid says Mad in Italy Per Aliment Meliconi S.R.L.-Bologna.“

„"It's good to get a reaction because it gets people thinking," she says. "Since we can't import Cuban coffee directly, we're using it as an awareness tool to educate customers about the embargo on Cuba, and get them questioning why can't we have Cuban coffee in the U.S."“

„I've found that the coarser the grind, the more times water should be poured through to optimize taste. When I've gotten extremely finely ground coffee, one time works very well (and in fact doing it more than once clogs the filter). With the drip grind coffee I'm currently using (Jim's Organic Coffee), I pour water in 2 times when I use 4-5 tablespoons of grounds - about 1˝ - 2 ounces the first time, then 6 - 8 ounces. When I make coffee with 2 tablespoons or a little more grounds, I run water through 3 times - 1 - 2 teaspoons first, then 1 - 1˝ ounces then 2 - 2˝ ounces.“
