„If you can find the history of Bodum, which I think is on their website they mention a cafe/restaurant that used santos brewers only and had banks of them on the go at any one time. Cona do vacuum brewers with a 2 pint capacity, but they're not cheap, Cona being a company in the UK I think that means the the pints are larger than US pints 19.2 US fluid oz per pint if I remember rightly. I personally use a Bodum Santos (hob version not the electric) and I love it there's no other way to say it, the flavour is unbelieveable. I suppose that the reason they're not common in commercial establishments is that they are made from glass and get top heavy when brewing, or clumsy waiters, dont know which would do the most damage but at nearly $200 for a 2 pint cona do you want to find out?“http://www.coffeeforums.com/ viewtopic.php?p=4134&highlight= - Cached
CoffeeGeek - Cona Size A / B - MARIA MERCEDES's Review

„The Cory's mouth is not very wide, but allowed me to insert my hand in it for scrubbing, but judging by the photograph of the Cona I assumed no hand and even no finger could be inserted in it! So I was prepared for a "brownish" bottom pot and even for not being able to display my Cona! But I just wanted good coffee and I didn't mind this. But I've find this not to be true: with a little of care the bottom of the Cona can be kept immaculate, as long as you clean it every time you use it, of course.“http://www.coffeegeek.com/reviews/vacpots/cona_size_a_b/ latest - Cached
Vacuum Coffee Brewers - Cona - Yama - Bodum Santos

„Because the filter on these brewers is a single nylon mesh screen, and a fine grind will result in too muchsediment in the cup. A manual vacuum brewer does not use a nylon filter, and by any of the 3 filter methods (Cona Glass Rod, cloth filter, of Bodum plastic filter)all manual brewers result in a much cleaner cup than the electric models. In our cupping tests, there was another problem: consistently poor cup performance whencupped against the exact same coffee prepared in a French Press. We believe that the problem was that, in making a safer method, the brew temperature might notbe reaching the ideal 200-205 degree temperature.“http://www.sweetmarias.com/ prod.brewers.vacuum.shtml - Cached

„Our family was one of the first families to settle in Carnwadric and for me it holds many, many happy memories. It was a beautiful place in those days and our house was on Carnwadric Road at the corner of Cona Street. We had lots of green space to play and being a hop step and a jump away from "Ghandi's Wood" and the Ivy Castle we could fantasise in many ways and in many games. There were not yet any shops in Carnwadric and we had to walk across the wee bridge (just a track then) to go up to Thornliebank for all of our groceries.“http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/history/scotlandonfilm/forum/.../ thread13.shtml - Cached

„I too grew up in Carnwadric. I was six years old when our family got a "new hoose" on Carnwadric Road at the corner of Cona Street and I attended the "widden" school" along with such boys as Murray Graham, David Torrance, Jimmy Muir, and so many others and girls too like Isa McAuslin, Beatrice Duncan and my teachers were Mr Craddock, Miss Stuart and the love of my young life Miss Phillips. I still have a school picture of around 1935. I left to join the navy in 1942 and stayed in until 1946.“http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/history/scotlandonfilm/forum/.../ thread7.shtml - Cached
CoffeeGeek - Cona Size A / B - Jeroen Vriesendorp's Review
(#)
„The "B" offers the same convenience & brews the same good coffee as the "D" - it's just half the capacity. OTOH, the Cona's main downside is even more apparent here - priced just slightly lower (about US$ 140-ish, IIRC) than the "D", the "B" is rather expensive. Still, for a one, or two person household, I think it is worth it in the end. A vac pot this good just gets used very often & each time with the same pleasure.“http://www.coffeegeek.com/reviews/vacpots/cona_size_a_b/hv/ 191 - Cached
Searching for the Perfect Cup (INeedCoffee.com)

„Before you think that I have gone a little too far, you need to read some of the stuff that comes across the T-1 at work on the subject of roasting the perfect cup. First, my father has purchased this amazing contraption for brewing a cup called a Cona. I can’t describe this other than to say that it looks like a bong. It actually took a lot of convincing on his part to assure me that they weren’t doing dope (they do live on the Mexican borer).“http://www.ineedcoffee.com/02/02/search/ - Cached
CoffeeKid - The Vacuum Brewer FAQ
(#)
„It uses an internal coil heating element driven by electricity. The venerable Cona model from Britain still uses a cloth wick, as do many of the Hario and Tayli lines of vac pots. Some Hario models use a copper wick that provides two "jets" of flame to heat the bottom vessel. Sunbeam and Cory models used internal heating elements tied in with heat sensitive coils for knowing when to reduce or shut off the electricity for their automated functions.“http://www.coffeekid.com/coffee/vacpots/ vacpotfaq - Cached
CoffeeKid - Are Vacuum Brewers Different?
(#)
„This dilutes your coffee too much, especially if you are brewing a half pot. One other thing that bothers me about the Cona is the pour spout on the bottom vessel is really narrow - too narrow even for my special vac pot brush, a question mark-curved bristle brush designed specifically for vacpots with narrow necks and wide bellies. If this brush doesn't fit, that Cona's mouth is really narrow.“http://www.coffeekid.com/coffee/vacpots/ vacdifferent - Cached
CoffeeKid - The New Bodum Santos
(#)
„And for the last word on the new Bodum, the brewing quality compared to manual vacpots is middle of the road. One owner told me months ago that they have a Cona and a Hario brewer and find that those manual devices brew a better cuppa compared to the new Santos. Another owner loves it - it is their first vac pot, and compared to their traditional auto drip machine. I'll have to wait till I get one :-)“http://www.coffeekid.com/cafetalk/09-02-2000 - Cached
CoffeeGeek - Cona Size C / D - Steven Cook's Review

„Bought direct from Cona UK. Their Website has to be one of the worst I've ever seen for a commercial company, but once I got their phone number it was quick and easy to buy from them. Must admit, it was one of the best packed products I've ever received, both ecologically and "safety" speaking.“http://www.coffeegeek.com/reviews/vacpots/cona_size_c_d/ latest - Cached
