CoffeeKid - The Ultimate: La Marzocco

CoffeeKid - The Ultimate: La Marzocco ()

„Pretty much every true commercial espresso machine is based on the 220V or 308V power draw. The same stuff that may power your dryer or stove. Espresso machines need this kind of power because of what they do: they have to quickly heat up at least 6 litres of water (on up to 17.5 litres or more) very, very fast, and they have to maintain that kind of heat (something called quick recovery).“

„Plus, La Marzocco and their US distributor, Espresso Specialists really have set the bar in terms of supporting Barista competitions. Not only do they bend over backwards to make sure everything's right, but they informally allow Baristi to get some "face time" with machines prior to competitions, either at their showrooms, or their "satellite partners" showrooms. I remember going to ESI's Seattle office and seeing Dismas Smith (Zoka Coffee) training for the World's last year - getting a full day in ESI's showroom, allowed to do pretty much anything he wanted (with Jeff Babcock overseeing everything Dis was doing).“

„Here's the very, very sad news: the best espresso shot we had out of all the shops we hit was... a Starbucks. And it wasn't the Starbucks espresso, pulled on their La Marzocco Linea machine.“

„I got a tour of Espresso Coffee Machines Co., which is affiliated with Nuova Distribution (the US company), but ECM is based in Burnaby, BC. Let me tell you, that place is an Espresso lover's dream shop, especially if you can get into the back storeroom. They have what looks like a quarter million dollars worth of antique machines, including a first gen Victoria Arduino, many of the original Nuova Simonelli machines, and many other major makers, all just sitting way up on this semi-display shelf that only the staff can see as they go about their business. I was in awe.“

„There are a good runthrough of various espressomodels in Rose Mary Furfaros coffeepage.Visit Coffeekid, a nice site with espressomachinereviews and more. Earlier I had an low budget steam driven espresso machine with which I just barely could make a decent cup of espresso with very thin crema. I then bought a Gaggia Tebe and it was another ballpark altogether, thick delicous crema without any trouble at all. After seven years my trustworhy Gaggia now has earned retirement and I´ve replaced it with a Pavoni Europiccola.“
