CoffeeKid - The Dream Machine (#)
„By definition, a semi auto machine is one that can automatically pump water at required pressures through a machine; it also maintains boiler temperatures. Machines like the Rancilio Silvia, Pasquini Livia 90, and ECM Giotto are semi auto espresso machines. All are good, great machines even, but all are missing certain elements. Here's the dream semi auto espresso machine:“

„Welcome to one of the most requested pieces ever on this website. This how to was done originally because I used to get as many as 5 or more emails a week from people specifically asking how to get a Rancilio Silvia up to temperature faster, or how to get more steam power and longevity from the machine.“

„These are actually sold as Turkish Coffee Makers .that is, Ibriks. I prefer traditional Ibriks but you can use these for both purposes.“

„Another of six (yes, six) Isomacs I currently have in house. This one is a good leg up competitor on the Rancilio Silvia“

„It is now 2001, and unless some amazing deal comes along for a Rancilio S27, an Elektra, or a high end Pavoni or Gaggia commercial, I believe I have the machine I will want to have for years to come. The only purchase option I'm even remotely considering is a new grinder - a Mini Mazzer, or the new grinder that Pasquini is selling. But for now, Rocky is doing just fine, and unless he has some catastrophic event, I don't see a need for upgrading in my grinder department.“

„What it lacks, like all home machines under $1300 or so, is separate steam boiler tank. You basically need to spend another $900 to take the next step up from the Silvia in home espresso machines, to light-commercial machines like the Pasquini Livia, Isomac, Wega, Exobar, La Marzocco, etc. So I hate to say it, but $500 for the Miss Silvia is a good deal! You can start doing decent home espresso with the Gaggia Espresso at $259, but it doesn't have this great stainless steel housing, and the level of finish of the Silvia.“
