CoffeeKid - Part Two: A long Coffee Road Discussed ()

„First problem was back early in the year when ECM was told the machine requirements - three 3-group machines. They were also asked about providing 3 grinders, but at some point we went to Mahlkoenig as the grinder provider, and they provided the very capable new Mahlkoenig Twin Espresso Grinder - an amazing digitally controlled, dual grinder, single doser grinder that saves a lot of coffee for a shop.“

„This list is by no means complete, and there are other very suitable options on the market I haven't listed here. Apart from the looks there are two important things with a burr grinder - the quality of the burrs and the precision of the adjustment/bearing mechanisms. Ken Wilson has put up some of the old articles from alt.coffee and other sources about modifying grinders (some of which are listed below) to accommodate the espresso fineness required for great shots.“

„There's a lot of good grinders on the market today that do the job they are assigned - providing an even grind at various levels of fineness needed for a specific brewing job. The key is only burr grinders will do, and some burr grinders aren't as good as others.“

„They also carry the Unic line (re Illy), Mazzer grinders including the Mazzer Mini for $680 listed price, (fairly good deal, considering the duties and shipping you pay on a $400 USD one) and other products. If you want several items, give them a shout, I'm sure they'll make the purchase worth your while.“

„First up, Terry Z from Espresso Parts Northwest sent me the first of two test grinders for detailed review candidates on the CoffeeGeek website . I got the flat burr doser model, and the conical burr doser model is on its way. They are working out great so far, and if you want to find out more, visit the First Look over at CoffeeGeek .“

„Yes, it is sort of "discontinued" but there are some grinders left in channels, and you should also be able to buy them from a rather famous store (a brick and motar type, not an e-store) for some time. Meanwhile, Solis is bringing in the new Mulino grinder (mistakenly referred to as the 177) very shortly. I'll be getting a unit to test and do a review on. It certainly is not a looker, but it does the job, and if it is like the preproduction model I've been using, it should do the job well.“
