„We went back to Hines after 2 hours at the LM plant (where we saw lots of their goodies - one good news item - they've finally gone to production on the welded groupheads - it looks like leaking LM grouphead problems are a thing of the past), and hooked up again with John Sanders and Bronwen Serna. Much more discussion on all things coffee, from the shift from the USBC judging form and style (4 judges) to the WBC judging forms and style (7 judges) for the upcoming Canadian Barista Championship . I'm psyched. Sanders even let me run a batch through his Probat roaster, so if you're drinking some Ethiopian Harar at the shop in the next few days, that's from me to you :)“

„The grouphead is actively heated. As mentioned in the previous point, the La Marzocco grouphead is an active-heat grouphead - a large volume of water flows through the La Marzocco grouphead directly from the brewing boiler. This is has serious advantages over heat exchanger machines that actively heat the grouphead because the grouphead is heated by brew temperature water, not steam temperature water. A La Marzocco grouphead is within 2 to 5 F of the boiler's internal water temperatures - very tight, but very right.“

„Bottom line on this machine? It's a genuine La Marzocco Linea, with the massive actively heated grouphead, brews near perfect shots in the hands of skilled technicians (so far I've had three championship calibre Baristi use the machine and they've gone nuts over it) and it steams like a banshee. The biggest workout it's gotten so far was a marathon 14 drink build session in about 20 minutes, and the machine never skipped a beat. There's something to be said about microfrothing 12 ounces of milk in 12 seconds.“

„The highlighted element is an individual "grind", and it has a nice flat face for water to run against under pressure and extract all the goodies from. What I always find amazing is even at this small a size, the ground bit still has enough cellulose structure to it to actually curl and twist without further breakup.“
