CoffeeKid - Are Vacuum Brewers Different? (#)
„This dilutes your coffee too much, especially if you are brewing a half pot. One other thing that bothers me about the Cona is the pour spout on the bottom vessel is really narrow - too narrow even for my special vac pot brush, a question mark-curved bristle brush designed specifically for vacpots with narrow necks and wide bellies. If this brush doesn't fit, that Cona's mouth is really narrow.“

„Caused when the lid is not on correctly or if the lid is damaged. If you have a thermal decanter, make sure the ARROW "Brew/Pour" is pointing toward the spout when brewing.“

„And for the last word on the new Bodum, the brewing quality compared to manual vacpots is middle of the road. One owner told me months ago that they have a Cona and a Hario brewer and find that those manual devices brew a better cuppa compared to the new Santos. Another owner loves it - it is their first vac pot, and compared to their traditional auto drip machine. I'll have to wait till I get one :-)“

„Pour it into a warmed mug or coffee cup so that it will maintain its temperature as long as possible. Brewed coffee begins to lose its optimal taste moments after brewing so only brew as much coffee as will be consumed immediately. If it will be a few minutes before it will be served, the temperature should be maintained at 180 - 185 degrees Fahrenheit. It should never be left on an electric burner for longer than 15 minutes because it will begin to develop a burned taste.“

„As the water begins to boil pour the coffee into the coffee filter. Now as the water pours over the coffee shake the basket (removable in the Technivorm) to ensure an even extraction. Brew time and temperature are taken care of automatically. If your brewer has a hot plate under a glass carafe, remove the carafe after the coffee is fully brewed to prevent the coffee from burning.“

„Brewing has challenges - if you don't use the machine frequently, you have temperature issues with the brew head. But you get amazing thermal stability on a well used machine because its a boiler full of brewing water, not just a heat exchanger which can fluctuate.“
