CoffeeGeek - Why I like Bodum (#)
„In those first heady weeks, I must have drunk about a pound's worth of coffee a day. It wasn't cheap - I still didn't know about micro-roasteries, arabica beans, or the effects of oxygen and age on roasted coffee, but I did luck out in that half a block away from my shared house, there was a coffee shop that sold "fresh roasted" beans and their prices were good. Still, I was spending about $50 a week those first few weeks on coffee beans, money I didn't really have.“

„I haven't seen many people on this site talk about perc, but I bet fresh, home roasted beans, at the right grind will result in pretty good percolated coffee. Why don't you use your perc and find out. Inquiring minds want to know.“

„He stressed that his coffees were "estate" coffees and all arabica. When I asked for small quantities of decaf espresso beans to try, he explained that while he had a few coffees that he sent to be Swiss water treated, there was so little caffeine if most of his coffees that I didn't need to use a decaf. Specifically, that robusta coffees are 94% caffeine free (CF) and arabicas are 98.5% CF because they are grown at elevation in rainy areas and the rain washes the caffeine out. (huh??).“

„While Torrefazione wasn't as good as a local shop with fresh roasted beans, it was definitely a cut above Starbucks for espresso and atmosphere. And, since there is no locally owned espresso shop in Dallas, it was the best espresso in Dallas.“

„The LaCimbali Dolcevita S/100 is an impressive looking machine. I don't think that it's being used to its full potential. I like to try a two ounce double with freshly roasted beans pulled on this beast.“

„Jolly Caffe Crema espresso of Florence, Italy is made from a blend of 12 of the finest 100% Arabica coffees from 12 different origins. Each bean type is roasted separately before blending. In this way, Jolly Caffe can strictly control both the roasting temperature and duration specific to the needs of each bean variety, so no beans are ever under or over-roasted.“
