CoffeeGeek - Technivorm Clubline - All - James McNab's Review (#)
„ I ignored this part of the manual because when you turn the machine on to brew the coffee, the hot plate is also turned on to a lower setting. There is an optional switch that may also be turned on once the machine is brewing that heats the hot plate up to full capacity. I was originally contemplating the thermal carafe model of the Clubline but was led to this model by Cheryl at Boyd's. She mentioned that the thermal carafe with the Clubline isn't anywhere near as good as some of the thermal carafes on the market today.“

„ Machines that use only one element for warming and brewing often don't have enough juice for hitting this brew temperature. I measured the temperature of the water coming out of the Villaware and it is 197F. I had real hopes that this would be the case because of the dual heating elements and it is!“

„First of all, the only "weakness" I've found in the Royal is extraction times that are shorter than they should be to achieve the perfect cup of coffee. I didn't expect the Royal to make better coffee than my Hario vac pots, because I didn't really think it was likely that any coffee maker which "automates" any part of the process (the extinguishing of the heat source in the case of the Royal) could reliably make better coffee than the fully manual control allowed by Hario, and similar, vac pots. As it turns out, I may have been mistaken in this assumption, but more on that later...“

„ I'm not sure I would appreciate that much heat in the kitchen. The Rancillio seemed to radiate less heat (which is a BIG plus), but once warmed up it feels quite hot. I have never wished for more heat, or a hotter cup. Once dispensed, the expresso is plenty warm.“

„With a HOT machine and a filter basket filled with FRESH grounds, I pull 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of THICK CREMA containing espresso in a time period of 25-30 seconds. (YES, I do use a scoop to measure 14 - 16 grams of coffee, I do use a graduated glass container for the espresso extraction when creating a cappuccino/ latte, and I do use the timer on my Timex wristwatch to time the extraction period.)“
